A+ Certification Exam
Development of the CompTIA A+ Certification
The CompTIA A+ certification exam was developed in 1993 at the request
of the information technology (IT) industry. Major corporations
needed a way to validate the skills of entry-level technicians and
reduce the costs associated with hiring, recruiting and training
employees. These corporations turned to CompTIA to lead the development
of the A+ certification program.
Hands-on service technicians used their real-world experience to
define the A+ test content and computer service experts developed
the A+ exam questions. A multi-level review process ensures that
the A+ exam questions are accurate and psychometrically sound.
Since 1993, more than 500,000 technicians have taken the CompTIA
A+ certification to launch or enhance their careers.
